Dr. Jean J. Botti

Dr. Jean Botti has been the EADS Chief Technical Officer and a member of the EADSExecutive Committee since May 2006. In addition, he currently serves as president ofthe Fondation d’Entreprise EADS.

Botti began his professional career in 1978 at Renault. He joined General Motors in theU.S. during 1989, working in the area of Chassis Engineering. From 1992 until 1997,Botti returned to France as General Motors’ Director of European Engineering, and wasthen named Director of the Customer Solution Center – a position he continued to holdwith the Delphi Corporation until 2002.
From 2002 to 2004, Botti managed the corporate Dynamics, Propulsion and ThermalInnovation Center as the Chief Technologist. He finished at Delphi as Business LineExecutive for the Powertrain Business.

Botti holds 12 patents and four defensive publications for his work at Delphi, and waselected as a Delphi Hall of Fame fellow. He holds 11 patents outside of Delphi as well.Botti graduated from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées of Toulouse in 1986with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering. He also earned an MBA from CentralMichigan University in 1991, and went on to earn a Ph.D. in mechanical engineeringfrom the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers, Paris in 1995. In 1991, Botticompleted a Management of Research and Development course at the MassachusettsInstitute of Technology (MIT).

He was awarded an honorary Doctorate from the University of Cardiff, UK in 2012, andreceived an honorary Doctorate from the University of Bath, UK in 2010. Botti also is amember of the French Academie des Technologies.

Botti was honored with the General Motors President Council Award in 1998, and is aFellow of the Society of Automotive Engineers. In addition, Botti is a member of variousengineering and technology societies and the Centre National Recherche Technologique(CNRT) in Belfort, France.

He was elected to the European Research Board as the representative for aeronauticsand space; and he is a board member of ONERA (the French research institute forAeronautics and Space); he is also a member of the Bundesverband der DeutschenIndustrie (BDI) technical committee in Germany.
